Ideal partners: Stoffel and Hof Quarta

Alvaneu is located on a terrace at 1,180 meters north of the Albula Valley between Lenzerheide and Davos. There, Flavio Laim and his partner Jeannine Suter run his Bud-certified farm in accordance with the specifications and guidelines of Bio Suisse. He keeps suckler cows in his BTS (particularly animal-friendly stable housing system) and RAUS (regular exercise) compliant free-range stable. The peaceful and stress-free life of these animals takes place on the farm from birth to death, only interrupted by summer stays on the alp.

Flavio is a man with vision, head, heart and drive. He comes from Alvaneu and therefore also speaks Romansh. He completed an agricultural apprenticeship, took over his father's empty stable in 1988 and started farming, but also worked as a carpenter and landscape gardener.

Since the small size of the business did not provide a basis for his existence and he was always interested in financial and pension products, he trained as a fund and financial advisor in 2000 and became self-employed in this area in 2005. Since then he has devoted half his time to this activity and half to his farm. Partner Jeannine comes from near Aarau, studied architecture at the ETH in Zurich and later developed her knowledge of agriculture in practice.

In 2014, Flavio started breeding and keeping Wagyu cattle. Today between 20 and 28 animals live on his farm. This type of cattle originally comes from Japan. Their meat is of particularly high quality and very tender. The animals are kept according to the high standards of Swiss animal protection, in keeping with Flavio's motto: "Animal welfare has the highest priority." There are also goats on the farm that are kept as landscape gardeners and, during the summer months, a few free-roaming pigs and pasture lambs.

Anyone who visits the Quarta farm gets an idea of what paradise once was like. Flavius and Jeannine are convinced that Adam and Eve came from this area.
